Dancers from Kickit Dance Studio competed at the World Hip Hop Championships held in Europe October 2nd – 7th, 2007. Our own Robert Boge choreographed the Canadian National Team. His outstanding choreography, and hard work and dedication of the team, earned Canada a 18th place in the World.
With over 3400 dancers from 32 countries and 3 continents this was the largest World Championships event ever held. The World Championships is hosted by the International Dance Organization. The IDO is the only official World Dance Championships and hold a seat on the World Dance Organization who are affiliated with the Olympic Committee.
Team Canada consisted of 18 dancers from Winnipeg (all from Kickit Dance Studio): Robert Pili, Kara Flaman, Amanda Nagy, Al Lauren Youssiem, Yx Andrushuk, Jillian Smith, Samantha Soloway, Megan Ferguson, Kate Robertson, Robyn Anderson, Rebecca Horvey, Ainsley Minuk, Kayla Wallman, Stephen Pawlychka, Lori Watson-Boge, and Choreographer Robert Boge.
The excitement of dancing each round and making it onto the next finals is something these dancers will never forget. Also the trill of representing Canada at such a large and prestigious event, meeting dancers from around the World as well as participating in the Parade of Nations create memories that will last a lifetime.
